Jane James

Senior Tissue Viability Nurse and Clinical Operational Programme Improvement Lead

Jane joined WWIC on a part time basis in October 2020 and can support as an expert resource in wound management.  Jane also contributes to WWIC’s vibrant education programme with a focus on specific requirements of Primary and Local Authority care teams. Jane is enthusiastic about service development through promoting the delivery of cost-effective wound care prevention and treatment services.
 
Jane graduated as a Registered General Nurse from The London Hospital, Whitechapel. The majority of Jane’s 38-year career in the NHS was committed to implementing and managing a tissue viability service and she went on to obtain a Post Graduate Certificate in Education, MSc in wound healing and qualified as an Independent Prescriber. Jane has strived to add value to wound care delivery through standardisation of practices and policy on a National platform.
 
The combination of both clinical, academic and management experience in this specialist field fits well with WWIC’s mission and objectives. Jane has advised NHS Wales Shared Procurement Service in the development of value-based principles as part of the National Procurement Tender, maintains active membership of working groups in development of National guidance and has contributed towards Best Practice document on antimicrobial dressings for Evidence Based Procurement Board.
 
When not in Jane loves to walk for exercise and attempt to master the challenges of the game of golf. She is a member of the ladies’ golf team and plays in league and local competitions.
